- New generation – the whole range will receive new codes for a new generation
- Facelift – the whole range will receive new codes for a new generation providing that the assessment has been passed. Images of the car (front and rear three quarter, interior view of dash and centre console as a minimum) must be sent in order to complete the assessment
- Slot in codes to an existing range – new codes will be created in the event of introducing a new engine, power, trim level etc. These will be added to an existing range or a new range where one does not previously exist e.g. special editions
We will create new codes if there is a change to any of the following:
- Naming
- Trim
- Doors
- Seats
- Fuel Type
- Engine size
- Transmission
- Gears
- Power
If you believe there has been a change to any of the above features within the first 3 months of the ID being added, we must investigate and query if necessary, if this is a genuine change or a correction.
Creating New Pack Based cap Codes – Guidelines
We will create new codes in the following scenarios:
- A corresponding MVRIS code will be created
- If there is likely to be a huge uptake in vehicles with these selected options/packs
- There is an expected uplift in residual value (engage Gold Book team)
- The option involves a change to seating e.g. 5 to 7 or reverse
- The request is consistent to the range or other ranges for that OEM
- There is an impact to safety features (NCAP, Insurance Group)
